Filmside is built so that your film log lives on your device. This page describes exactly what leaves it, and what does not.

What stays on your device

  • Your log — what you want to watch, are watching, and have watched.
  • Your ratings and your notes.
  • Entries you write yourself for films that are not in the catalogue.
  • Any file you import. The CSV is read on the device and never uploaded — the app has no upload path at all.
  • Release reminders. They are scheduled by the operating system on your device; no server is involved.

Because these live on the device, deleting the app deletes them. Export first if you want a copy — Filmside exports your whole log as CSV in one tap.

What we receive

  • Your email address and an account identifier, if you create an account. An account is only needed to ask the Usher, which keeps your free questions attached to you rather than to the app install.
  • A summary of your taste, when you ask the Usher: proportions of genres and decades, whether you tend to watch films under two hours, and the titles of up to five films you rated highly. Not your watch history. The request format has no field for it and the server rejects anything larger than 8 KB.
  • How many times you asked, per day. This enforces the free limit and lets us watch our own costs.
  • What you search for, in order to answer the search. Searches are not tied to your account — the service that answers them does not know who you are.

What we never collect

No advertising identifiers. No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs — the app ships with none. No location, contacts, photos, health, or browsing data. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share data with data brokers.

Others who see something

  • TMDB supplies film data and hosts the posters. Posters load directly from TMDB rather than through us, which means TMDB sees your IP address and which posters you load. We chose this deliberately: routing images through our servers would let us watch what you look at, and would cost enough to change what this product has to become.
  • Supabase and Cloudflare run our accounts, database and catalogue proxy on our behalf. They process what is described above and nothing else.
  • Apple handles sign-in and any purchase. We never see your Apple ID password or your payment details.

Deleting your account

Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account, your credits and your subscription record from our servers. It cannot be undone.

Your log stays on your device. It was never on our servers, so there is nothing there for us to delete.

Children

Filmside is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes and contact

If this page changes in a way that affects what we collect, the date at the top changes with it. Questions: support@filmside.app.
